Characteristics and Tasting Notes of Krug Rosé 29th Edition
Tasting
Color
The color reveals a salmon hue subtly animated with copper reflections.
Nose
The nose opens with indulgent aromas of red fruits such as raspberry, strawberry, and ripe cherry, enriched by delicate toasted nuances.
Palate
The palate seduces with an aromatic profile evoking a raspberry charlotte and soft biscuits, extended by prune flavors and a refined touch of blood orange, enhanced in the finish by a light pink grapefruit bitterness.
Food and wine pairing
Game, spicy cuisine, wild boar fillet, grilled cauliflower tacos with romesco salsa, or even a vegetable quiche with jalapeños or grilled sardines are refined pairing suggestions with this champagne.
The Character and Complexity of a Krug Rosé Champagne
The estate
Founded in 1843 by Joseph Krug in Reims, the Champagne House Krug is a pillar of excellence in champagne. With vineyards spread across several regions of Champagne, it distinguishes itself through its library of reserve wines, allowing the creation of consistently high-quality champagnes. Currently led by Olivier Krug, the house remains faithful to the innovative spirit of its founder.
The vineyard
With more than 250 different plots including the prestigious Clos du Mesnil and Clos d'Ambonnay, the Krug Champagne House owns an exceptional vineyard heritage in Champagne.
The wine
Born from the dream of the fifth generation to create an unprecedented rosé champagne that could be produced each year, this cuvée harmoniously combines elegance and boldness. Perpetuating the family tradition of excellence, this Krug Rosé 29th Edition results from a rigorous selection of 29 wines from 5 different years. The youngest dating from 2017 and the oldest from 2010. Reserve wines constitute 33% of the final blend.
The vintage
This cuvée is crafted around the 2017 harvest, a year with unique weather conditions. The coolness gave way to favorable clemency for vegetative development. The year was marked by a spring frost as well as significant summer rainfall causing yield losses.
Winemaking and aging
This exceptional cuvée is aged for approximately 7 years in the estate's cellars.
Blend
44% Pinot Noir (including 11% red Pinot Noir traditionally macerated on its skins), 34% Chardonnay and 22% Pinot Meunier.
