Chateau Beychevelle video
Is it really necessary to remind that the Chateau Beychevelle stands out from the crowd of left bank Chateaux? Not only is it one of a kind as a matter of architecture, known as the Versailles of the Medoc, but its wine also displays a very specific character, and finally it takes pride in its unique History, tightly linked to a river and a whole estuary, the Garonne and the Gironde. Beychevelle, so we say, is located on the banks of the river. This third Cru Classe, classified in 1855, persistently keeps a legend alive, the one of an admiral. The Admiral Jean-Louis Nogaret de la Valette, Grand Amiral de France who once owned this freestone vessel. Besides, history tells us that any boat cruising by this estate had to low their sails to swear allegiance. The legend was then born and this story was embodied into a very specific sign, engraved even on the label of the wine itself: a vessel with a dragon head, and a lower sail.
