Château Belgrave video
Located within the Haut-Médoc appellation, and bordering the Saint-Julien appellation, the Château Belgrave is listed in the 1855 classification as a fifth cru. Year after year, the Château produces elegant, fresh, fruity wines, with a lasting finish and a regularity which is much praised by wine-lovers. Their finesse and their refined structure on the palate are the result of rigorous plot management of the vineyard's 60 hectares over two main ridges. This management ensures that the deep gravel soils are perfectly maintained, so as to encourage slow, full maturing of the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes for which the Médoc is so well known. When blended with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, this varietal offers the acidity, finesse, body and structure needed to produce wines which will age well. For those who can't wait, the feisty young flavours of the vineyard's second wine, the Diane de Belgrave, offer a delightful alternative. Owned by the Vins et Vignobles Dourthe group, and managed by Patrick Jestin and Frédéric Bonnaffous, the cru benefits from regular investment for renovation projects and technical improvements. Today, with its brio and passion, Belgrave remains well-deserving of its Médoc cru classé label.
